Torremolinos has the honour of being the origin of the castizo term pescaíto frito (fried fish) to describe a speciality widely consumed and celebrated throughout Andalusia.

Specifically, this dish received its name for the first time in the fishing district of Carihuela, in the early sixties.

For this reason, we can say that perhaps the most authentic fish of the Costa del Sol can be consumed in this neighbourhood, in any of the stupendous beach bars and restaurants situated all along the Torremolinos beaches and streets.

Torremolinos is the very definition of Mediterranean climate. And what do we mean by that? Over 300 days of sunshine a year, with mild and pleasant temperatures averaging 18 degrees Celsius.

The rainiest months are November and February, and the hottest months are June and July. April, May and October have the mildest temperatures, being rather warm, but not oppressive.

Torremolinos’ Mediterranean climate also means that winters are humid and cool, with temperatures never falling bellow 8 or 10 degrees Celsius.
